2013 is right around the corner. Are you ready? It seems like just yesterday 2012 began and now it is almsot over. Now it is time to think about 2013. Lisa from Cents to Save posted her 2013 goals, and that reminded me that I needed to post mine, too. Some of my goals are financial, and some are more personal. Assuming the world does not end on Friday (12/21/12), below are my 13 goals for 2013:
1.) Have $25,000 in my new car fund by the end of 2013. I will start out the year with roughly $17,500 in that fund, so I will be aiming for another $7,500.
2.) Add $5,000 to my Roth IRA.
3.) Make $5,000 in side hustle income (teaching job, blogging, selling stuff, Swagbucks, rebates, etc.). I made over $8,000 in side hustle income in 2012, though I also sold a few big ticket items so I am downgrading my expectations for this year. By the way, I am NOT counting money earned from my rentals in this figure.
4.) Loose 13 pounds by the end of 2013, and keep it off.
5.) Track my spending all year to see if my spending matches my budget predictions. Shouldn't be too hard since so much is tracked electronically through my bank.
6.) Reduce my electric bill by reducing my energy consumption.
7.) Stay on top of the book keeping for the rental business. I don't want to be hunting around for receipts and invoices come tax time!
8.) Post a minimum of one time a week on my new blog about my landlording experiences (url to be announced soon).
9.) Post a minimum of two times a week on The Single Saver. What would you like me to write about here?
10.) Clean out the basement (and keep it clean).
11.) Clean out the garage (and keep it clean).
12.) Have my attorney finalize my Will. I have a draft will written but, due to some trusts I want to form and charities I want to have represented, I need a lawyer to handle the fine print. We've started the process but I need to get my butt in gear to get it finalized.
13.) Quit bad habit "X." What bad habit "X" is doesn't matter... what does matter is it is a small little nervous habit that I have (much like some people bite their nails or crack their knuckles) that drives me crazy and I want to make a conscious effort to wean myself from it.
What are your goals for 2013?
