The weather is warming up and we are starting to think about getting our yards ready for Spring and Summer. Before you buy expensive mulch, check with your local community recycling center. Many local recycling centers have free or cheap mulch made from trees and brush that have been delivered there.

Want natural looking highlights in your hair? Don't want to pay big bucks to get them? Mix a solution of 1/4 cup lemon juice and 3/4 cup water and pour over your hair and then sit out in the sun. The lemon juice works as a natural bleach. You can repeat this process for several days to maximize the effect.

Make Extra Money Online!
Saving money is always welcome, but sometimes making a little extra money is another nice way to help you towards your financial goals. There are lots of ways to earn a little extra money online. Two that many people don't know about are Amazon Mechanical Turk (where you perform simple tasks in return for payment) and Swagbucks (where you are randomly awarded points for searching the web and those points can be redeemed for prizes and gift cards). It always amazes me how many people don't know about these two cool resources, so I hope you enjoyed today's money-saving (making?) tip! Click here to see more tips.
Incidentally, Swagbucks is currently running a special promotion. Join using this link and on the blue bar (where it says ‘SwagCode’) enter the code: HelpJapan and Swagbucks will give you an 80 point bonus. This code is valid through 11am PST on 4/8/11.

Pay In-Network Prices For Out Of Network Doctors
Is your doctor not in your health insurance plan? Before you pay out of network prices for your next visit, call your insurance company. If you can convince them that your doctor is better suited for your particular situation than any networked doctors, they may let you pay the better rate.
Pay Off Your Credit Cards
Today's tip is an easy one... don't carry a balance on your credit card. Interest charges on credit cards are not only expensive, but they are also unnecessary. If you have a balance, pay it off ASAP and then enjoy the extra saving you have each month!
Keep Your Cookies Fresh
If you are single or have a small family you will likely be unable to eat an entire batch of cookies before they start to get a little stale and hard. You can revive dry cookies by putting them in a container overnight with a slice of apple. The moisture from the apple will soften the cookies up.

Stock Your Toolbox For Cheap - Thursday's Tip of the Day
You can find tools for dirt cheap prices as garage sales, flea markets, and resale shops. The problem is, they are often old and rusted. Luckily they can be restored! Just soak them in some vinegar overnight and then scrub the rust away with a wire brush the next day.

Simple (and free) Storage Solutions
I try to keep my closet neat. I really do! I store my shoes on shelves and my tops are sorted by color. But my plans for neatness are consistently foiled by my sweaters. I store them on the top shelf in half of my closet. But no matter how neatly I stack them, they seem to fall over all the time. It also doesn't help that at only 5' 2" it is not really easy for me to grab a sweater from the pile without making a mess out of the entire pile!
My sweaters would frequently look like this:
Spill Red Wine On Yourself? Save Your Clothes!
Spray vodka on wine stains, scrub with a brush, and then blot dry. The stain should then come out fully in the wash.

Get The Most From Your Lemons
Need a little lemon juice? Poke a hole in its skin and squeeze out the juice you need. Because the inside of the lemon is not exposed to air, it will stay good for a much longer period of time than had you sliced it open.

Today's frugal lunch idea is a continuation of last week's hard boiled eggs - deviled eggs!
Deviled eggs are easy to make and can be as simplistic or as gourmet as you'd like. Because the main ingredient is an egg, they are both frugal and have good nutrition, too.
Avoid Late Fees - Mark Your Calendar
Whenever you rent something like library books or videos, mark on your calendar when it is due back. It is easy to forget about these due dates, especially if you are single and don't have anyone reminding you to return them! Writing down the due date will help remind you so you avoid those pesky late fees.

Don't Automatically Buy A Product's Extended Warranty
Extended warranties are typically not that great of a deal, especially for cheaper products. Weigh the item's repair and replacement costs (and decide if it is something you would even choose to repair should it break down the road) before forking out the money for the warranty. Remember, stores offer these because they make money off of them.

Repairing a Scratched CD With A Banana
Just scratched your favorite CD? Don't throw it out and buy a new one before you try this trick. First, rub a banana around the CD in a small, circular motion. Next, repeat the step with the inside of a banana peel (still rubbing in a small, circular motion). Next, rub in the same pattern using a cotton cloth to get the banana residue off. Finally, spray the CD with window cleaner and buff with the cotton cloth. Bingo - your CD will be as good as new!

We all want to look good (especially if we are single) and teeth whitening products are a big industry right now. Don't buy expensive teeth whitening products. Instead, just dip your toothbrush into some baking soda every time you brush your teeth. Not only will the baking soda whiten your teeth over time, but it will also help to clean your breath, too!
